● tabulation nom féminin (de tabuler) Ensemble des taquets d'une machine à écrire servant à l'arrêter en début de paragraphe ou de colonne. Position prédéfinie dans une ligne où peut venir se placer la tête d'écriture d'une imprimante, ou un curseur sur un écran de visualisation.

A. — 1. Ensemble des dispositifs permettant d'arrêter automatiquement ou manuellement le chariot d'une machine à écrire en début de paragraphe ou de colonne; utilisation du tabulateur d'une machine à écrire. (Dict. XXe s.).
2. Opération de mise en page d'un imprimé permettant d'obtenir des dispositions en tableau (Tabulation horizontale, verticale; caractère de tabulation). (Ds GING.-LAURET 1973).
B. — INFORMAT. Calcul d'un ensemble de valeurs prises par une fonction sur un intervalle donné lorsqu'une ou plusieurs variables varient par pas régulier (d'apr. MORVAN Informat. 1981).
